A live database
The Central Asian Archaeological Landscapes (CAAL) project works with local partners to document archaeological sites across Central Asia through remote sensing and archival research.
The inventory is continually reviewed and improved as new research, documentation and corrections become available. Individual records vary in completeness and precision.
Coverage reflects the information currently recorded. A place without a mapped record should not be taken as evidence that heritage is absent.
The inventory uses multilingual controlled vocabularies and thesauri to support consistent descriptions of archaeological sites and related resources. Explore the terminology and relationships between concepts in the CAAL Vocabulary Explorer.
